First Day of School

Image
Today was FINALLY our first day of school! These poor kids have been so bored being babysat at the school and have been ready for some educational stimulation. Brett and I on the other hand, have been on stimulation overload with all the orientation meetings and such we have had. It's all been interesting and helpful but very overwhelming at times. I knew from visiting Lucy's school that she was going to love it! And from the feedback I got today, she settled right in and all the teachers love her 🤗 she even took a good nap!! Finn was so excited as well and ready to start learning again! We are working on balancing mom and dad being at school and what that means. He wanted to sit on my lap during the assembly but unfortunately I just can't have him doing that so that bummed him out. He also came home a little defeated since they are working on assessments and figuring out where everyone is as far as academics. We just had a good conversation about ...

Korea Nice

Ok. Lesson learned. We are super excited to be back and we kne w we needed to take it easy with kids but it was all just so fun and exciting! However... It was getting to be less than enjoyable with the kids losing their patience pretty much everywhere. Let me just tell you, it is SO embarrassing to be the center of attention on a silent bus when you are the only foreigners there in the first place AND your baby is screaming. Literally mortifying. To try and avoid this, we made a conscious effort to do one activity a day and be mindful of letting the kids be more "in charge" of the pace as well as pack backpacks with snacks and activities. It was still a little tricky because most Korean snacks are sweet and the packets Lucy has are twice the price here. We also still do not have a cellphone service so we either have to download shows from Netflix when on wifi or watch things only when on wifi. But we're figuring it out . Bongeunsa Temple New day, new week, new plan...

Do All the Things!

Hi everyone! I finally have a break to blog-we have either been doing all the things or taking all the naps... After the kids were the worst I have ever seen them during dinner one night, we realized we really have been pushing ourselves too much. It was just so exciting being back and we wanted to quickly get acquainted with our new neighborhood. Plus our apartment didn't have a whole lot to offer the kids so getting out made more sense. But it was so hot that being out was just that much more of a conundrum... So we have spent the last week figuring out our rhythm and our limits. I mean, we know what to expect and what we like to eat, etc. but the kids are still trying to figure that out. We also haven't even been here two weeks so it's fair that we don't know everything yet... Saturday August 11 For Lucy's birthday, we went to a cat café. That was super cute and fun but again, how do you prepare small children for something like this? Cat café, sure so ther...

Back to the Future

Hello from the future 😂 not really but kinda haha if you're in Mountain time, we are 15 hours ahead of you. For those of you who know how competitive I am, being ahead of you all is very important. Kidding! It is weird though, trying to adjust to how to call home and such. Right now we are enjoying afternoon coffee while Lucy naps at 1:30 PM Saturday and I just said goodnight to my mom about an hour ago at 9:30 PM Friday! I'm excited to update you on our first few days here but first a couple quick observations from the past few days. So far, everything seems relatively the same as it did the last time: similar fashions, prices haven't changed a ton, public transportation is still awesome, and the food is still 맛있어요 (ma-shi-so-yeo, delicious)! Thursday August 9 We were instructed to fast from midnight on before our health check-up which we knew was going to be awful. No food? No water? No COFFEE?! AHHH Yeah, we were a fun group to take around town in the morning. Ha! ...
