First Day of School

Today was FINALLY our first day of school! These poor kids have been so bored being babysat at the school and have been ready for some educational stimulation.
Brett and I on the other hand, have been on stimulation overload with all the orientation meetings and such we have had. It's all been interesting and helpful but very overwhelming at times.
I knew from visiting Lucy's school that she was going to love it! And from the feedback I got today, she settled right in and all the teachers love her 🤗 she even took a good nap!!

Finn was so excited as well and ready to start learning again! We are working on balancing mom and dad being at school and what that means. He wanted to sit on my lap during the assembly but unfortunately I just can't have him doing that so that bummed him out. He also came home a little defeated since they are working on assessments and figuring out where everyone is as far as academics. We just had a good conversation about how everything is all new and it's hard to know how to manage emotions; especially when you have excitement and anxiety at the same time. I also assured him that school will be more manageable in the next week or so. And he has a lot of fun classes to look forward to. (He gets to learn violin!) Plus, he will be starting after school clubs which should be a lot of fun! Hopefully he gets into Taekwondo on Thursdays! 🤞

My day went pretty well. The fact that Lucy got on her bus with no tears was a real stress reliever! We worked on assessments and a getting to know you worksheet. I only had 7 students today... A couple will be coming late due to extenuating circumstances and one I'm not sure-- haven't seen or heard from their family yet. I'm excited to be teaching again! This is going to be a fun class. It's first grade, or Year 2 in the UK, and they are cuties! Some have some quirky mannerisms but it will be great 😁

Brett's day was pretty good as well... We both keep finding more things we need to do but we're getting through it. Unfortunately he's a bit rundown this evening so we're all having our Emergen-C and going to bed early!

I do have more to update as far as the last two weeks but wanted to just give a little overview about our first day!

Also, if anyone is looking for a good Korean drama, try Mr. Sunshine! We watched an episode last night and it was good! Intense and a bit graphic at times (it takes place during a war so..) but interesting! More soon!
