Sweater Weather

Sweater Weather
Greetings folks!
Things at school have definitely picked up and we are halfway through Term 1! Exciting but we definitely do not have any breaks between now and Christmas. However, the year 2 classes are going on a field trip on Wednesday to give us all a bit of a break. We are going to a place called the Zooarium where we all get to pet various types of animals. Should be interesting!
We have gotten more into a rhythm of work and weekends so we have been living a more normal life rather than doing too much sight seeing. It is nice that the weather is changing--seeing all the changing leaves is always such a pleasant sight and the cooler weather is quite welcome after such a hot and humid summer. The one downside is we are having to pay closer attention to the air quality and we get alerts when it's bad. The students aren't permitted to be outside if the air quality is at a certain level.

Here are some things we did over the last few weeks:
Some delightful coffee before a family outing

Family bike ride along the Han River:

Lucy had so much fun and learned how to say "bike ride!"

A couple videos: The first shows the quieter area and the second is more of the main area. The tents were people hanging out, having a drink or a snack, and just enjoying the day! Why don't we know how to relax like that?! 😂

Some photos Finn took including a really good selfie!

Legit tteokboki

Ok, remember how we did that poll for the weird pizza?? Well we did get it and the winner was the Deutsch Bite. We were really tire when we got it so a bit anti-climactic. It wasn't too bad: mini hot dogs and cheese bite crust but the sweet potato puree was a bit um, sweet.
Here's Finn's take on it:

Now for some photos of my favorite cafe just down the street. I'm sure you've seen on my Instagram or Facebook story. But, they have cats! It's the best!

So, the lady in the background ordered this drink and Brett asked the barista what it was. It's called like cafe vin and it's essentially an Americano with sweet whipped cream. He gave us some of the extra to try and it was delicious!! Apparently you can also get it hot!

Like I said, it was delicious

Some adorable and delicious cupcakes a student brought in for their birthday

People keep saying we're crazy and can't understand how we can do what we're doing with kids. To be honest, it's challenging but not unlike any other move. Really! I know it probably doesn't seem that way since we're halfway across the world but we go to work, we play, we hang out at home, and just do normal things. Of course we've had to adjust to a smaller home and figuring out how to spend free time on the weekend without going stir crazy but otherwise very similar. I mean, it's harder to get alone time in an apartment with no backyard and when we are situated in a circle but we manage... Like Finn, he created a scary porcupine to keep Lucy out of his room!

But really, the kids feel at home here for the most part. Finn does get tired of city life and all the people so he starts to miss home but he loves his friends and school!

Here's a cute video of Lucy pointing out the "first star" a game we started years ago that's silly but still fun and we can still play here.

This video is also super sweet for many reasons. She randomly starts talking about Grama and Poppa (my grandparents) out of the blue. They are very special to me and when she talks about them, it makes me so happy.

A couple weeks ago, we visited the Gangnam library for an event our school was a part of. There was a lot going on and the kids were a bit overwhelmed so we hope to visit another time because it was a super cool library.

We then ventured into Seoul to show Brett Lucy's school and Namsan park. The kids were still in a weird mood so we didn't stay long. We did some exploring down the windy streets of Itaewon and had a couple beers with friends and entertained our whiny kids with TV. See? Same same but different...

Lucy had an obsession with what she calls "baby cars": two types of cars here that she always calls baby cars. Well, we found the ultimate baby car on our walk through Itaewon! Lucy met her favourite celebrity 😂

One of my favourite photos; just us walking to work!

Working on a word search while waiting for food😁

He's getting so big but he's still my little buddy.
So friends, with sweater weather upon us, put on that cozy sweater, do something new, enjoy the same ol' same ol', and spend time with people you love. ♥️
