Now What?

Phew! We finally have all our documents either good to go or en route ready to be mailed to our employer once we receive them. Last week was stressful getting all those put together but it just needed to be done. Getting our passport photos was an interesting experience in that trying to get kids to sit still in a UPS office and then also not smile for photos without looking like we were mad or going to cry was also a challenge!

We are also waiting on our notarized diplomas which will be mailed from Washington and then mailed back to Washington to get an apostille- a further authorization of documents. Both of our background checks are waiting on their apostilles, Brett is waiting on a new passport, and then we'll be ready to send that all to BEK (our school in Korea). We will also have to get the kids' passports but that is less pressing. That reminds me, I do have to schedule their appointment!
The next part of the process is what to do with all our stuff-a question I have been getting frequently. We are planning on selling both of our cars, renting out or house, saving some major stuff from our house but really trying to just purge as much as we can before we leave. So, yard sale for sure!
Another question I had been asked a handful of times is about the availability of stuff in Korea. It is very much a modern, first world country and they have everything there that we have here. A lot of times, the same stuff is less expensive, some will be different (I remember how excited I was when I found Twizzlers for the first time when we were over there last time!) but otherwise, pretty much the same. Especially where we will be in Gangnam.
Seoul is a mega city. The city's population is 10 million and the metro area is 25.6 million. Here's a little more info about Gangnam:

Something that is a little interesting is that our apartment will be "fully furnished" but we don't quite know what that means yet! We may be pretty much set up when we get there but we may be heading to E-Mart and Costco to get some more necessities. We are planning on just bringing what we know we we will have a harder time getting while there: snow gear, pants for me, shirts for Brett, sturdy shoes for walking, and some special things that will help remind us of home. Just wanting to travel as light as possible!
